The New Mavericks Podcast: Carl Alexander

"Hailed as "exceptional...[with] a beautiful and powerful voice," by The Harlem Globe, Carl Alexander is a budding American countertenor known for his captivating performance incorporating informative literature. A graduate of Morehouse College and Northwestern University he has been featured in a number of performances across the United States and abroad.

As a young, queer black artist, his artistic expression has focused on the intersection of sex & gender, race and sexual orientation. His time away from the academy has allowed him to explore these facets of his identity through musical projects such as the Voic(ed) Project and through poignant concert programming.

He looks forward to spending time with New Mavericks, exploring the untapped potential of diversity and complexity in the world of performing art."

When I asked Carl to write a few brief words, I could not have described his human and artistic power better , in addition to our discussion thereof. For the time that I have known Carl, he has been an exceptional inspiration and captivating artist. The New Mavericks Podcast is lucky to have such an amazing first guest.
